Fluoxetine for ASD?

Argh! A title would help!

DS started equasym 2 1/2 weeks ago and it hasn't been helpful. If anything it has made his behaviour worse - he has been more agitated and more likely to self harm when on the meds both at home and school.

I spoke to the paed yesterday and I expected him to simply change the dosage or make but he suggested we try fluoxetine instead. He feels that the deterioration in DS behaviour over the last 8 months may be due to stress and that the jump to his natural year group this sept, coupled with losing his beloved TA at 1/2 term, have resulted in him
becoming so difficult.

The hope is that the fluoxetine will reduce his anxiety and stress and that this will calm him down and increase his concentration.

Has anyone had any experience of using fluoxetine with a child with probable ASD and/or ADHD? I've used it myself for PND so i know how it works but I've no real idea of what to expect for DS.
