We have been a couple of times with ds2, he was definitely worse the 2nd time. I think just because he was older & more aware.
He was actually much quieter than at home.. maybe just stunned into silence I don't know. He was very clingy & took refuge in his buggy loads & clung to his toys from home we also had much more flapping & spinning, but this settled as the week went on & as he invented new routines for while we were there.
I'm making it sound like torture for him but honestly he did enjoy it & he napped during the day so I got time to read a book by the pool.

The flight really scared him he spent the entire flight with hands over his ears & a coat over his head. Are you flying if so have a word with the check in & on boarding & they will allocate the quietest seats.
