Took DS2 to his nursery Xmas party on Friday. They'd asked me to stay with him as they were worried about his reaction to a larger group of children, noise etc. I was fully expecting him to spend most of the time in their side room with his hands over his ears.

When we arrived all the children were sitting in a circle singing - he plumped himself down immediately right in the middle of the circle, smiling and joining in with the actions. One little boy started pulling his coat off and another took off his shoes. DS2's 1:1 was grinning at me from the other side of the room - and I was welling up. He then sat for the whole of the meal -had his own food but the other kids kept lobbing hula hoops onto his plate . I have to say, I thought sod the MSG just for one day - the social side of this is far more important.

When Father Christmas arrived he went into the side room and started pacing, but as soon as his name was called out he was over to him like a flash - cursory glance at present which was then dropped on floor - just wanted to stroke his beard!

Came back high as a kite (both of us).
