moving house to a different LA

We have submitted a request for a statement, which LA will begin to look at on Monday as a request for a Ehcp or whatever it is called.
We are considering moving house, about 3 miles down the road. But it will be in a different LA.
Ds will still be at the same school.
Will we have to start again with the new LA where we live, or continue with the existing LA the school is in?

TIA.

Hi it's the LA that you live in that you need to apply to for a statement.

Damn, so if we are in the middle of an assessment when we move, we will have to start all over again? That's not good news. The OT has been great. I guess we will need a new one, or is she part of the NHS rather than LA?

the LA you live in is responsible for the statement (and funding), i.e. you will have to run it via the LA you live in.
not sure though what the process is if you move while an assessment is under way and if the new LA would start from zero again Confused

I would think that if you move LA your OT will change (would at least be the case where I live).

might be worth finding out more about SEN provision in the two LAs and then decide about the move. its a postcode lottery and moving 3 miles to.a different LA could make a big difference (pos or neg).

I knew it was a different LA, but somehow, that fact didn't 'click' when we started looking at houses. I'll have to have a think and decide what to do.
