when dh collected the boys from school yesterday, they passed a group of tourists. ds1 stopped to stare at them - i suspect because of the way they were dressed - head to toe in flowing clothing with the women having their faces covered.

he went up to them and said "hello" (bear in mind that while he has been able to say individual words for yonks, actually talking is quite a new thing and he's not generally interested in chatting to anyone either!)

they all smiled down at him and said hello.

he said "how are you today?" and they all broke into big grins at him and all were talking to him saying we are fine thank you, having a nice time, how are you,"etc etc.

he then waved and said "byeeeeeeee" and left them all waving back at him!

i wish i'd have been there, it was so lovely, so so lovely! i'm so proud of him.

They're probably emailing their friends back home to tell them about the lovely friendly boy they met.

its just so wonderful cos my boys mostly just go through their day ignoring everyone they pass. it's like they dont see people - iyswim! so ds1 to notice people and approach them and want to make friends with them, its just so great.

makes me want to cry!!!!

That's great, Mytwopenceworth. I was delighted today when DS2 said bye-bye to a woman in a local shop without being prompted. I can't imagine how I'd feel if he actually started a conversation.
