Hi , i am looking at getting a touch screen for my son who has ds and have been looking at all the software that goes with it . I have spoken to his teacher about the type he uses at school ,but was just wondering does any one have one at home and if so can they reccommend any software or websites. My lad is 11 and going to secondary school in september, he has poor speech and cannot hold a pencil , so we want to give him some independance with a computer which he love sto use. Thanks.

Have you contacted the school your son is due to attend to see if they can fund a computer for him.My son as a lap top and he can bring it home although we have said no as he has to come home on public transport. We have a computer at home but not touch screen so sorry cant help with that. In addition my son has special lessons at school to aid his computer skills its all worth an ask.

Can't help personally as I have no real expereince. But we have been looking at software that may be suitable for our local Down Syndrome group to have in a resource library we are setting up. ( My dd Amelia is 4)

Have a look at Inclusive Technology, sorry far too tired to do a link but addy is inclusive.co.uk

Might be able to give you some ideas as to what is out there.

Hope that helps, if you what any more info. Please shout or feel free to email me on dinglecards at yahoo.co.uk

sorry, forgot...also look at Downs Ed, you can phone them both and ask for advice. Some products are VAT exempt but can'r remember the criteria for that now.

Also look at r-e-m (I think) and Semerc. I know you can get an add-on touch screen that is much cheaper but can't find the info, sorry.
