new here - brief intro

Hi everyone. I've just registered, having spent three days reading all the posts on the SN board and taking loads of notes! What a brilliant resource - I wish I'd found it a year ago.

I thought I'd just write a brief introduction as i've got so many questions that I think I'd better start several threads! I have two sons, 4 and 3. The youngest has speech and social delays with some autistic traits - we're awaiting a diagnosis but think that he's probably on the autistic spectrum. The oldest is, we think, NT - but since he started school a month ago we've been a bit worried about him (or I have - DH thinks I shouldn't be). I'm really excited to have found so many positive, informed mums to talk to - it's been a tough year and I've felt very isolated at times.

Welcome to the site sphill.

I have three boys. DS1 has Aspergers, DS2 has hearing problems and ds3 has speech delay, though tbh I think ds2 and 3 will be solvable.

It's a great place to get help and support.

have fun

Welcome

I have 2 sons. My eldest is nearly nine and is NT. My youngest is 2 and has (as yet) undiagnosed special needs. He has no speech is super big for his age and we suspect he may have a chromosonal disorder.

I found this site a huge help when I discovered it a year ago...and found everyone really helpful. You will be pleased that you found Mumsnet

Wait til we send you our bill Sphil!
Welcome to MN and especially to the SN board. I didn't read anything before plunging in when I joined and probably annoyed everyone! Start as you mean to go on I say! I have a DS who is 10 with severe ASD/non-verbal/challenging behaviour who has been an ANGEL for the last month or so including half term! I also have a 2.5yr old DD who I'm pretty sure is NT but has nasal/sinus congestion which may have delayed her speech a little but otherwise communication OK, a cheeky little so and so! Hope you get plenty out of MN and let us know what is happening in your life.

Thanks for all your introductions - it's good to get an idea of who everyone is. I feel so much more positive already, I guess because I feel less isolated. My family don't live locally and I don't have any friends with SN children -in fact all DS1's friends seem super advanced grrrr! I was secretly so proud when he recently became dry at night before some of his friends - it's the first time he's been ahead of them at anything! Sad, aren't I ?

Hi sphil

I have a DS who is 3.9 yrs old and on the autistic spectrum.

I know how you feel about super advanced children because I feel the same.

I'm also quite new, but have found the SN board to be full of positivity, support and advice.
