Anyone know of any research that is critical of PIVATS. The school thinks PIVATS is a measure of progress but I disagree. The schools idea of progress is one progressing one level of pivat in 2 years. How can I proof that PIVATS IS RUBBISH for recording progress?

are you a teacher or a parent?

they can be quite useful when progress is slow - before pivots existed, or even p-levels, a great deal of students would stay on the same level for a year or two suggesting that no progress had been made, when in fact there had been

Parent. School was critised in recent OFSTED report that recording of progress was poor. Whats annoying is that the explanation for each level of PIVATS is vague and when probed its hard to proof any real 'progress'.

I would question the method of teaching if school is recording progess at same level year on year.

but sometimes the methods of recording are not so great - that's why p levels were brought in a few years ago - I'm a special needs teacher and a LOT of our students would stay at the same level during an academic year, or more. It's the nature of their learning difficulty

there are very few systems out there for recording progress when you're looking below NC 2
