Has anyone successfully changed from MS secondary to SS secondary?

DS has asd, and after I picked his secondary school he was also given additional diagnosis of adhd and anxiety too. (Also has bowel issues and sensory issues including hyperacusis).

If I had know when I chose I'd probably have swayed more towards the SS options available. I felt I should give him a shot at MS as he did ms primary.

I now feel I've made a HUGE mistake. It's breaking my heart how much he's struggling, and I feel I've let him down. I wonder if I picked MS as that's what I wanted rather than what is the best fit for him. I'm having similar feelings with things like recreational clubs and even family outings. The older he gets the more the gap with peers is widening and his struggles are more and more apparent.

I'm kicking myself as when I chose his secondary I could have taken my pick on his EHCP really, whereas now if I were to try and get him into a SS I would have such a battle on my hands! I know other local families who have had dc at home for a year or more while they battle.

I just don't know what to do or where to start for advice, but I can't keep sending him off to struggle everyday.

The first thing you need to do is speak to the school to discuss the support he is already getting. They can also make a recommendation to the LEA that he be moved to a more appropriate school.
I work in a SS and we have children come to us at all ages. Some have been out of school for a while, some have managed to transition to is from their MS setting.
You may have a bit of a battle, but if you really feel that he would be better off elsewhere, then it's a battle worth having.x

I emailed his senco last Tuesday morning to ask about a few things and haven't had a reply yet!

He'd been hugely anxious since doing poorly in a french test and being told if he got a low score next week he'd have to stay after school. I ask senco do they differentiate between a child who can't be bothered to practice and a child who is practicing every night and getting upset and just can't learn that quick. I also asked about homework in general as he's really struggling to do it all after being at school all day his nerves and concentration are shot. He has the 2nd test today and has gone off to school so upset. Week one he had a load of words and phrases to learn in a week for a test and this week he had the alphabet to learn and was told to re-practice last week's too. To be honest it's all just way too much for him and he's never going to go and live in bloody France so it's all a pointless task. He's in "nurture groups" for English and Maths but then in the regular classes for things like blinking French. ?

So far I've had no reply from senco. I'm going to call her today.. I'm really hoping she's just been off or something as it was her pro-active nature that swayed me to this school.
