Should I be Worried

I have a 12 yr old DS. He is dyslexic.

He acheived two level 4's and one 5 in SATs. He started high school in Sept and is doing ok - he is reaching or in touching distance of his targets for the end of this year. All of his targets have been set in the level 5 area. I have been quite pleased that he has settled well and seems to be making some progress.

I was speaking to another parent - I know a silly thing to do. She told me she was dissapointed with her son's progress, he is in the same year as DS, in the same classes for some lessons. She said her son has only just started to achieve level 6. She is worried because her older son is reaching level 8 and he is only one year older.

I'm not a pushy mum. I want my son to reach his potential and couldn't give a stuff about others. However, this mum has me worried because she told me the classes in the school are poor and the kids are not being challenged. DS admitted he is not finding the classes challenging and being a typical boy he is happy with this. He said there are some disruptive kids in some of the classes.

Not sure what to do. I'm so pleased DS is happy, he struggled in the past. However, If there is a lack of discipline DS is never going to get the learning and support he needs.

I don't know if he is behind or if he is doing ok I don't know if I should raise concerns with the school.

Level 6 is around year 8 level, so don't worry at all.
