Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has experience in their child using a laptop or iPad at school? We are all in agreement it will be the best way forward for our ds but I am not sure how to make it most effective in the shortest time frame.

Also is there any setups that you find work particularly well fro your children?

thanks

ds uses a laptop for some class work and exams . How old is your ds? I think it is easier to learn to touch type on a laptop than an ipad.

A lot of the schools where I live have iPads and some laptops.

Whoops, posted too soon there.

What seems to be the norm is tana the parents buy them and open an iTunes account with a prepaid iTunes amount in and the schools will download the apps that the child needs as they go along.

You can get really protective cases for them. I have to say, a lot of the dc in the schools I have worked in can be quite careless with them. As they are the norm I suppose and they all have them. They shove them in their bags.

My son uses a laptop. The school supply it. He picks it up in the morning from a classroom and returns it at the end of the day. He has used one since he was 11, he is now 16. Seems to work well for him.

My ds is 9 year 4, we will supply either laptop or iPad. It seems easier to type on a laptop I agree.

What amount and types of lessons do they use their laptops for?
Do they connect to the school so they can save it on their system or do they save to the laptop?

Any other tips are greatly appreciated! I want to make this as smooth as possible.

ds has always had a memory stick for his work. Mostly he's used it for exams with essay elements like English , History etc and less so in lesson time. for exams facilities like spell check and wifi have to be switched off.
