Rain!

What do you wear/does the baby wear in the rain? I got caught in a shower today and thankfully wasn't too far from
home, had a brolly and could wrap my coat round my baby.

How old is the baby, and back or front carry?

Front carry and small baby, I'd just have them in warm winter clothes and zip my own coat over the top. Bit bigger, just dress them for outside - snow suit or coat or whatever. Hat.

They ain't water soluble thankfully so a bit of rain on their faces won't kill 'em if you don't have a brolly Smile

I should say he was already well covered but the rain would have got in his face had it not been for the brolly and coat.

Good point - he's not the wicked witch of the west. He's four months, front carried and still facing me.

How old is he? Is he a really tiny newborn? Because otherwise, really, a facing inwards baby will only get ever so slightly wet and can always borrow their face in if they don't like it.

Sorry, cross post. At four months he's got some head control and can nuzzle in if he finds rain unpleasant. They are pretty close in at that point anyway. My 2.5 year old still manages to tuck her head right in if she doesn't like it on my back.

I'm not a big fan about outwards facing carrying anyway, but I think that's not great for the rain. They can get a bit lashed by it!

His head control isn't great so I don't intend to put him facing forwards any time soon. I don't think he'd like it, anyway.

I'm sure he'll be fine. TBH, he is so sheltered that you will get pissed off with a wet face probably before he will if you get caught out without a brolly. At least the joy of a sling is a spare hand for a brolly.

It can all feel a bit daunting at first can't it, dealing with babies and bad weather, but it sounds like you have it sussed Smile

I've got a babywearing coat which is waterproof and comes up well enough/has a hood for when DS is a bit older so it's fine in all but an absolute downpour when I also use an umbrella.

midori where is your coat from?

It's from Suses Kinder, although I bought it through B2Boutique. They didn't have the colour I wanted, so got Suses Kinder to send it direct from their warehouse. The customer service and delivery time were excellent.

I love it, especially for what it cost and its extremely warm too.
