Have just read this article here I used a björn with DD when tiny and now have a much better more comfortable ergo. I didn't think there was anything wrong with facing her out in the Björn, as she was more content that way. Opinions?

You did it, she was OK. Its not the best position for her hips, so stick with the ergo.

DS2 has just been on holiday in a sling hire sling, and slept, in the positions suggested, most days with me carrying him. He is just about to turn 2. I can't imagine having their spine in my tummy, but each to their own. If bjorn's were that bad, noone would use them, but lots of people are negative about them

It is much more uncomfortable for the person doing the carrying to have your baby face out as they are so much closer to your centre of gravity if they face you and have their legs wrapped around you - so much kinder on your back.

But please don't stress about it - thousands of people have carried their babies face forward, and no harm has ever been shown in scientific studies etc.

I'm sure DS would have loved being facing out (some of the time, at least) - I don't believe the overstimulation thing is necessarily such a big deal for all babies. But I'm a bit precious about his hips/spine, and anyway I know it would have wrecked my back!

I think it's fine for short periods of time. Then again, you will probably be able to carry them like that only for short periods of time anyway, because as others have said it will strain your back.
My kids enjoyed it when they were babies and were definitely not over-stimulated. I did 30 to 45 min at a time, though - a walk to the shops, school pick-up, that sort of thing. Definitely not all day 'babywearing'.

I would rather bank carry than forward face. If you try getting yourself into a similar position (eg balancing just your bum cheeks on a narrow ledge with your back against a wall) it's not particularly comfortable.

We carried dd1 and ds face forward.

Dd2 not so much - different sling.

Dd2 has had 6 years of a serious hip problem.

Sometimes things just happen.
