Kari-me, Moby or something else?

Hello,

Sorry if this has been done to death- first pregnancy, trying to make the best possible decisions with our baby budget!

We were given a baby bjorn from a friend which is lovely. It however, doesnt fit my 6'4'' rugby built hubby! So I'm looking at something we can both use. I like the look of the Kari-me and the Moby. Both seem stretchy and look like it would distribute weight well and I also like that you can tie them up before you go out and then just pop baby in when you get where you are going.

Only slight concern with either is temperature. Baby is due in april so summer will soon be upon us. I also will need to be able to use it to travel internationally in september to FL where it will be pretty hot. I think i've read somewhere about guaze ones but dont know if these are suitable from birth?

Does anyone have a preference of The Kari-me over Moby or know of one similar thats better? Sadly no sling meet ups where we live so will have to buy purely on recommendation!

Sorry if this is totally rambling/confusing!

TIA!
:)

I much prefer the Moby Wrap as it's 100% cotton and seems to keep its shape better. I had a June baby who spent a lot of time in the sling and temperature was never much of a problem, I just made sure I didn't overdress her.

I prefer the moby over the kari-me as well. Stretchy wraps are all much of a muchness really, though some are 100% cotton (like the moby) and others are a mix - I think the kari-me is 95% cotton, 5% lycra, which makes it more stretchy - not a great thing IMO as it makes it less supportive. The moby is perfectly stretchy enough to be easy to use anyway.

Sa-be babywear slings are another cotton one which are a lot cheaper. The moby is the leading brand so prices are a bit inflated, I think.

Oh and re gauze - yes they will be suitable from birth, and probably better in hot climates. Gypsy Mama is the brand you need to google for that one.

I prefer the Kari Me, I like the stretch, it feels softer on the skin and it is also much easier to put the baby in and out of the carrier.
I tried my friend's mobi before I got my Kari Me and didn't like the feel of it and the struggle to put the baby in.
I think it is more expensive because it is made in the UK and has good quality. I have been using it for over two years, so it's well worth it, and can be used with the next baby as well.

DD lived in the kari-me for the first 4 months, but she was a winter baby. Could see how things would get a little hot in warmer weather. Not tried a moby so can't compare...
