Extreme sleep training - Transitioning from swing/hammock to cot

Hi all,

Got a bit of a problem... DS has been an angel when it comes to sleeping (when he's awake, that's a different thing altogether!). He sleeps in his hammock at night and during the day, in his cradle swing. The problem is I've decided to take a last minute trip to see my family in Asia in just under a month, he won't have his swing or hammock then (or on the plane for that matter...) so I need to get him sleeping on a flat surface (i.e. a cot!) asap (uh, in just under a month...). He doesn't seem to like flat surfaces much and I think I have just made a rod for my own back by letting him sleep in his swing so much...

How do I make the transition from swing/hammock to cot asap and with as little pain as possible? I don't want to leave him to cry as he's too little. Help! And thanks.

Ax

i would let him sleep in his hammock till you go. does he have to sleep in a cot when he is in Asia? Is it going to be hot where you are going? Hammocks are great for sleeping in in hot places. I speak as someone who comes from a part of the world where everyone slept in hammocks, traditionally.
