Does your LO like a nice soft toy or something more challenging to snuggle up to?

Ds1 used to take a coat hanger to bed - that was his Captain Hook phase.

Ds2 used to cuddle up to a huge fire engine.

It wasn't for the want of soft toys, they just never liked them.

Dd went through a stage of having the blue crane from Bob the Builder in bed with her . Currently she has a box of comics on the bed, a few books, about 3 or 4 legless Bratz dolls, her baby comfort toys and 3 - yes 3! hot water bottles.

DS has a Noukie (snuggly, blankety thing) that he sleeps with every night. On top of that he has whatever his favouite "toys" of the moment are nearby. I try and encourage him to put them on his bedside table or book shelves though, otherwise he looses them in the bed and wakes up in the middle of the night shouting " I can't find my ..."

His current faves are a child safety cupboard lock, a 25p stretchy man from a party bag, a reflective arm band and a few jewels sellotaped to a piece of paper .

Afternoon nap: yellow hard helmet and a builders vest. On.

Evening nap involves small cast iron cars.

And a huge bendy bus joins him occasionally.

Both DD's have their own tiger but last night DD2 (2) had emptied her building blocks in her bed and had fallen asleep on top/alongside of them. She awoke later in the evening to ask if i'd tidy them up, please.

i bought DD (3) a flourescent green fold out picnic chair the other day - she lvoes it and best of all it has a drink holder

she was determined to take it to bed with her and in the end I gently persuaded her to put it next to the bed. but she went to sleep with her hand out touching it

Ds1 (4)has teddies - currently three : his "bear family".
Ds2 (13) months also has three cuddlies : one for each hand and his face snuggled up into the feet of the third.

definitely something more challenging.
he particularly likes a big plastic tyrannosaurus (or mighty rex as he calls it)

right now he has a pack of thomas snap cards, said dinosaur, his rabbit comforter, 3 dummies, his extra pillow, and a stick

Chuffinora - the lord alone knows. They are a breed amongst themselves. Mad as badgers...

I've also found the cat in his bed - but that got evicted swiftly.

MrsJC - he had to touch his pants (wears nappy whilst asleep),whilst having his afternoon sleep last week. Putting them by the side of his bed wasn't an option - he had to 'hold them mummy'. [withered cast eyes up]

Oh yes we used to have the large plastic dinosaur known as George phase. DS used to wake up with the pattern of the scales imprinted on his face.

my 15 month old has 2 small taggy blankets, a soft iggle piggle and upsy daisy, a teddy on a soft bit of blanket and a light up gloe bear. He has to bring them all out the cot with him in the morning but gets very frustrated when his arms cant hold them all at once. DD (4) has never bothered about taking something to bed but has now takes a soft fluffy pegasus pony with her (which she got for xmas and was one of her cheapest presents!!)

Whatever gets them to sleep...

DS sleeps with a torch.
DD insists on sleeping with her slippers on!

Ah the old whisk. Glad it's not just my boy! It hasn't reached his bed yet though - just his bedroom and his toy stash. Clockwork torch has been in bed numerous times, but got banned as it was like a mini disco at bed time.

Cringing at the recorder - nightmare!

ds1 went through a stage of having to have every toy in the room in bed with him and did an inventory every night before bed. DS2 takes the oddest things to bed with him - hairbrushes, toys with sharp corners, shoes etc. DD (only 10 months) insists already on sleeping holding either a plastic stacking cup or an eggshell from one of those pop up squeaky egg boxes - in fact she harldy puts it down and as she crawls around the house you know where she is from the 'clop clop' sound of the shell on the floor.....
