Connection between naps and night time sleep

Ok I'll try not to make this too long winded. Here goes...Have 19mth old twin boys who have never been good sleepers. They share a room at night. Off to bed at 8pm and my little guy has been waking recently between 7 and 7.15am which I am delighted with. Problem is that his big brother insists on waking at 6. Have tried cc with him(his brother sleeps through this!) but to no avail. When I do get him up he stops crying instantly and is all chat. Within 10minutes of going downstairs I can see that he is absolutely exhausted. It makes for a very tough few hours until nap time.Nap tends to be from 1 til 2.30, sometimes 3 for both of them. Is it too long? Too late? Am permanently exhausted as it is only this week that they are sleeping through at night!! Gotta go they are waking from nap..Can anyone advise...thanx so much

Ds now 2.9 and often has 2hr nap after lunch - not worried as he is on the go 110% when he is awake, and goes to sleep happily at night. However, every child is different - you may even find that your 2 dts are different and need different nap/sleep routines.

Best of luck!

Maybe 1pm is too late especially for your lo that gets up at 6am. My ds (15 months) curently gets up between 6.30 and 7am and I like to get him for a nap by 12.30pm at the very latest - I then let him sleep as long as he wants which can vary from 1hr to 2.5hrs. Regardless of how long he sleeps he will still be in bed for around 7.15pm.

Could you stagger bedtime and have your early waker going to bed slightly earlier so he still gets enough sleep? Could you make the nap earlier for your lo that wakes early so he is not too overtired to settle properly? Just a couple of thoughts anyway
