Is this a 3yo phase and if so how am I going to cope when we lose the cot???

Ds is 3 and still in his cot, new bed is bought but not introduced yet... but over the last week DS has been not going to sleep easily, lots of calling out and complaining and wanting cuddles, drink of water, 'wrap me up mummy' which means put the blankets round him etc. Previously he would drop off within about 10 minutes of being put to bed. Anyone else had this? Any ideas?
