DD 7m waking 4am - she used to BF and drop straight back off again - now BF and is wide awake making enough happy noises to keep whole house awake..she isn't hungry, won't take a dummy and just wants to play! I would leave her to it but if left she will either roll around and get stranded on her tummy and screams, or eventually cry inconsolably after 10 - 50 minutes.. We have ended up going in every five minutes until she eventually falls back to sleep for another hour or two around 5 - 5.30. She normally settles herself for naps and to go to sleep at 7pm... We dropped the 10.30pm feed a week or two ago and it has made no positive or negative difference...Wondering about those voice activated music/light things or any other suggestions?!

Hi Nozmum.

DS has a Vtech Winnie the Phoo box which plays lullabys or nature sounds i.e rain, birds signing, and it projects pictures onto the ceiling. If baby wakes up making noise it will automatically come in, hopefully soothing her. There is a big buttton which dc can hit themselves to make music play. DS happily batters away at the button until he falls asleep. It's the first thing he does when he gets in his cot. Got it in Mothercare

We had a Tomy one and used it until DD was about 6 months.
she didn't really pay attention to the light, but the lullaby was so soothing it became a cue for sleep we reckon. she started to bang it really hard against her cot so we took it off and she's fine without it.
our DD is an early riser too, she routinely wakes at 5am to play. we give her milk and try and put her back, but she's definitely ready to start the day. yours sound like an early one too... good luck...
