I hope someone can help us, over the last month my dd has had one sick bug and cold after another so her sleep pattern has gone to pot. she is finally better now (fingers crossed, touch wood etc etc!) but is still waking through the night and taking about 10oz's of milk, I feel like we are in a vicious circle now as she is therefore not as hungry in the day and only starts getting hungry again at night etc!
me and dh are shattered, we have also caught every illness she has had and just feel we need to get a few good nights sleep to fully recover, we both feel so low and sick of it. i just feel like i cant go on like this, how can i get her to sleep through again?? any help/comments more than appreciated

sorry for moaning, thanks for reading x

poor you, lly. i have an 8 mo son who sleeps through and the thought of him reverting sends chills. even worse when you have all been poorly.
perhaps she needs to eat extra during the day? maybe a growth spurt combined with disruption of her routine has caused this. no harm in offering her more anyway.
you have my every sympathy btw!

sorry, lyn, i obviously didn't read your thingy properly - i am a bit dopey today. however, my suggestion still stands - perhaps you could slowly reduce the night feed, eg 1 oz less a night?

there are a few options:

  1. cold turkey i.e. offer no drinks when your lo wakes

  1. offer just water

  1. offer progressively less in the night feed e.g. reduce the amount in the bottle by an ounce every few nights

  1. progressively water down the night feeds e.g. 8 ounces of water to 7 scoops then 8 ounces of water to 6 scoops, etc

All the options would make your lo hungrier in the day and hopefully less hungry in the night.

Good luck

Think Seona's given you some good options ... no soln here as dd still wakes for milk about 60% of nights ... & she's 13 months (but never really started sleeping through .... so at least you can feel there are people with worse sleeping los out there!!)
