my dd has got into the habit of not sleeping all day despite my best efforts and then falling asleep, clearly exhausted, at about 4pm. it's driving me mad as i have no idea how to get her to sleep earlier. i've tried putting her in her cot, taking her for walks, even driving around but nothing works. i'm sure ds was having two naps still at this age. she's clearly tired but she won't sleep!

aaaaaagh!

how much sleep do your little ones have?

does she get the chance to play alot?

i find with my ds if he doesn't get some excercise down on the ground crawling and playing he won't go for a nap as he doesn't feel tired

My DS is 8 months and has a nap after breakfast for about an hour (9.30) then again at 2pm for about hour - hour and a half, then in bed for half seven.

Is he active during the day??

funny you should say that as i did wonder whether her lack of movement might be a factor (she isn't crawling yet and shows no sign of wanting to either). she's quite lively and enjoys bashing and sqawking and watching her brother. i live in hope that she'll suddenly get very tired when she starts moving. that said i can't believe this little sleep can be good for her.

I usually find a good roll around on the floor or sitting up playing wears them out, and also if that doesn't work i'll put him in his walker for a bit that someimes works too. Desperate measures call for the door bouncer

she doesn't have to be crawling to have a good play on the floor rolling around with some toys

ah... you see with ds he's my second so all the whinging in the world ain't gonna help him if dd needs attention and the washing needs doing and the sinks full of dishes
