Is it safe for dd to sleep on her tummy??

Hi, my dd is 9 mths and has always slept on her back but the last few nights has started turning herself to sleep on her tummy, I know at this age she can roll over very easily but I still worry as the guidelines all say a baby should sleep on their back to reduce the risk of SIDS.

Am I just worrying for nothing or should I try and stop her??

My ds has started doing this for the past few weeks (he's 9.5 mths). I think the advice is to turn them over if they are sleeping on their fronts but tbh it's a bit pointless as a few minutes later he is on his front again!

Don't see how you could stop her tbh - my dd started sleeping on her tummy around 5mo - as soon as she could get there by herself basically. I remember worrying about it too but my hv said it was fine

My DS (8months) has been sleeping on his front for about 3 months - he started rolling over at about 5 months and as the other poster said, what is the point of turning them over when they just roll back?

I asked the same question and got told that as long as they can lift their head up and if they got themselves into that position then it is ok.

Thanks, just knowing other babies out there are sleeping on their tummies with no problems puts my mind at rest, I agree if I did turn her she would just turn straight back. Thanks everyone.
