Early waking and evening cluster feeding 5 mo

Hi,
My ds has got into a bad habit of early waking (about 5am, 5.30 if I'm lucky) everyday for the past month at least. I've tried treating the wake up as a normal night wake up (he wakes for a feed 2/3 times a night) but this doesn't work- he's either not interested or will feed a little but not go back to sleep.
He still cluster feeds in an evening from about 4-7pm when he will drop off and go till about 11-12pm (although that length seems to be reducing Sad). When he is cluster feeding he drops off for about 20 mins at a time -presumably because he's so tired as he's been up for more than 12 hours..! He has naps during they day which range from 30 mins to 1 hour if in the sling but he never seems that refreshed. I always try and get him for a nap when I see his tired signals.
Does anyone have any advice on what I could do to help get him out of the early waking habit, they're slowly destroying me Sad. Or is this a phase which will get better...
Sorry for the rambling!

Could you try aiming for very frequent daytime naps? If he's not refreshed from one nap, it means he needs another very soon. So it might be he just had half an hour awake for a feed and a bit of floor time, then straight back into getting him to sleep. Repeated all through the daytime. Every day.
