DD is 8 weeks old, our first baby. During the day she sleeps in her pram or car seat if we're out, or her Moses basket if we're at home. During the night and first nap of the morning she sleeps in her cot in our bedroom. She is formula fed, has a dummy and prefers to get drowsy cuddling me or DP, at which point we put her down still drowsy. She's a great sleeper, easy to settle, and if we feed her around midnight she sleeps until 5 or 6am.
The problem that we're having is in the evenings when settling gets much trickier... from 6ish until 10ish she won't sleep in her cot even though she's very happy to do so at other times. She will only settle in the living room with us, and is often very awake during this time (but happily so). If we put her in her cot she spits out her dummy and cries. She'll keep doing that until we get her up for her next bottle (i.e up to 3 hours) no matter how many times we go in to settle her. She'll sometimes fall asleep with rocking/head stroking etc. but then wakes up within a few minutes. If we keep her with us in the living room she sleeps much better, and will happily settle in her cot when I go to bed at 10ish.
I'd love to do bath/bottle/bed routine but it's just not happening! Is she too young? My main concern is that she's quite tall and will grow out of her Moses basket soon. Should I wait until then as there will be no other option? If so, what can I do to get her to settle, or do I just need to accept that she likes to be awake in the evenings?! Thanks for your advice everyone :) x
