Sleep

3yo Nap

My 3year 3month DD is constantly tired, it seems.

She fell ill (general virus) 3.5 weeks ago, and since she got better, 1.5 weeks ago, she's been tired all the time. It did kick her ass for 2 weeks solid.

She's been (bar one night) sleeping through which is totally unusual for her as she's always been an awful sleeper but used to walk properly at 5:45am every morning. Then busy busy all day and went to bed at 6:30pm.

Now, she wakes at 5:45am ish (usually a little before) but before 11am she's complaining she's tired. She gets very grouchy, very quickly (maybe because she's tired) and around her eyes are red, like when you're tired.

She's even wanting to try to nap, she's not napped (unless unwell) since she was 15months!

Writing this down I think I'm almost certain that I'm right in being a little ok, a lot more than a little concerned but I could do with some advice.

It can take ages to properly get over a virus - it took my boys (22mo and 6yo at the time) about 4 weeks to be completely well again after catching flu, and it took me even longer! I would worry unless you are having to wake her up in the morning as well as her complaining about being tired. Just let her take it easy and have chance to recooperate for a while, if she is tired let her rest, if she wants a nap let her have one.

At 3 mine still slept 14-15 hrs a day even when not ill

9pm-8-9am (11-12 hrs overnight)
2-4/5pm nap ( 2-3 hrs nap)

My 6 year old was ill around Christmas time. He then only woke for an hr or two, then napped and repeated. Took 3 weeks for him to get out of having naps again after

Sounds like she's still recovering from the virus. Can you just let her nap for the time being? Being awake at before 6am consistently probably makes her overtired too.

I'd love to let her nap, but she won't. Unsure why, may be afraid of missing out on stuff!

We have taken her out this evening and only got back just before 8pm, she was fast asleep for 8:05pm! Bless her.

So will see how she goes tomorrow FX!
