DS, who's just turned 2, has suddenly started waking in the middle of the night for 2-3 hours at a time. He's not distressed, just seems very alert, and wants to play. If left to it in his cot, he screams the house down, but settles if one of us cuddles and rocks him, which we've ended up doing more than I'd like as we have an older dc whom I'm terrified he'll disturb. He normally falls back asleep eventually, and might make up for some of the missed time by sleeping in by an hour or so. This has been going on since December, but stopped for a couple of weeks - it's now returned
For context, we've tried limiting his lunchtime nap to a max of 1hour, which briefly did seem to help (see the stopping for a couple of weeks above) but now doesn't seem to make much difference. He is quite full of cold at the moment, and extremely dribbly - have tried ibuprofen / calpol in case he's in pain with sore throat or teeth, but doesn't seem to change things either. Is there a sleep regression at this age? Can anyone offer any words of advice? Getting extremely tired ...
