How to stop feeding to sleep + dummy

DS is 10 months old, he feeds to sleep and has a dummy. He wakes 2-3 times a night where feeding to sleep is the only way I succeed in getting him back to sleep. He also stirs an extra couple of times where giving him his dummy and turning him on his side works. Is there a gentle / gradual way to stop both of these bad habits? Or is it a case of cold turkey / endurance test? I feel like unless I stop them he'll never sleep through.

No advice I'm afraid but watching with interest. My 8 month old dd is the same. I been trying to limit feeding over night but she will still need cuddling back to sleep. I'm also thinking of giving her water instead of bfing as I read somewhere that that can help. Not sure how she'll react to that though!
