Ewan the Dream Sheep - worth buying for a 7-month old?

Or is it too late? Is he only helpful for newborns? I am having such problems with my DS's sleep and looking for any solution. He's waking roughly every hour in the night. Has anyone found Ewan to be helpful?

I bought him for my newborn and yes he does soothe him but I found in the early days that he responded better to white noise and various other sounds that I have on an app I downloaded. DS1 is now 9 wks and we don't tend to need noise as much to get him to sleep so it's more just habit that we switch Ewan on at night time. If I were you I'd try some of the apps first.

I think it might be a bit late, sorry. Mine have both had a Ewan from early days but I think the younger they are, the more likely to relax to the noise, Ewan is quite gentle white noise. He does play some rather nice harp music which I play while giving my LO his night time bottle, which sets the scene a bit to signal bedtime (but hey he's 7 months and an awful sleeper so what do I know!)

Try out other white noise before forking out on Ewan.

Bought one for my 12 month old, total waste of money for us, sorry OP

My son has Violet from Leapfrog and he likes to press her paws and she plays bedtime music. Might be worth a look.

Ewan works superbly on my DH and me. So I don't think there is any age it can't send to sleep.

(However we did buy it when our baby was newborn.)

I got a Sleep Sheep - not a Ewen, different brand, apparently easier on batteries - for our DD whilst in a sleep deprived "I will try anything just please god let me sleep" haze. DD was probably 6 months (ish - her first year is pretty much a blur) and never slept for longer than 90 mins at a time.

It didn't work miracles but it did help - she still goes to sleep with it now at nearly 3.

My DS has had one since he was first born. He is 17mo now and still goes to sleep with him. Have you tried any of the apps first, like PPs suggested?

If you can afford the expense of Ewan, then I'd recommend him. My DS loves to cuddle up to him whilst going to sleep. He even shuns his bunny (which he never usually let's out of his sight) in favour of Ewan at bedtimes.

In don't know I my 10 weeks old has learned that Ewan noise means sleep, or whether White noise is just naturally soothing, but I'm starting to see that when he stirs in the night, if I stick Ewan on he will drift back off. I also have an excellent app called Rain Rain though which has so many noises on, but I don't want to tie up my phone by leaving it in his cot all night! It works when cuddling back to sleep though.

DD still likes hers at nearly two. When she was little she preferred the heartbeat or white noise settings but now she has the music. It sends me to sleep now too...

Thanks everyone. Definitely something to bear in mind then, but i'll try some of the less pricey solutions first!

I introduced Ewan at about 4/5 months when she could grab the mobile that screwed to the cot.

We use the harp one and def sets the scene for bedtime, she cuddles into me as soon as she hears it, but I'm not convinced it's the magic solution.

Any friends with older children you could borrow from?

No, unfortunately I don't know anyone who could lend us one. I'll hold off for a bit longer. Will see how desperate I get!
