Sleep

Taking dummy away

Lo (4.5 months) is dummy dependent for sleep. Will go to sleep in crib with dummy for night and naps, but has me up 6-8 times a night to put it back in, and only naps 40 mins each time as wakes up looking for dummy. Also, sadly frequently knocks it out while going to sleep and then cries for it so I have to put it in a few times each waking! facepalm

When did you guys break dummy dependent for sleepers? I think the sooner the better before she gets 'wilful' at 6 months or so, but they still have the suck for comfort need so it seems hard to take it away now? But I've got to get more than an hour and a half sleep in one go at night before I go mad!

Did anyone use gradual removal, did it work? Or is cold turkey the way?!

You need a dummy bunny! Aka Sleepytot - find them on amazon for about 10pounds. Put a couple of dummies on and sleep will be yours! I just wish I'd found one before DD was 9 months old...Grin
