Hello ladies, i am new to this site so apologise in advance for any errors i make! I have a 10 week old son who has serious sleep problems. This has been ongoing since day 1. I have had no more than 2-3 hours sleep a night since he was born and now so seriously sleep deprived ive become anxious, panic attacks, constant blubbering, underweight, massive headaches, whole body falling to pieces etc. My DS will not nap more than 30-40 mins a go, have tried everything to extend, white noise, swaddling, classical music, in the cot, in the pram, in the swing, set a nap routine etc. He self settles but after he wakes after 30-40 mins thats it for him. 1hour 20 mins later he is ready for his next nap and this continues all day long until bed time. Bed time is a lovely routine at 6 pm of bath, massage, bottle, bed. Again he self settles and sleeps till about 11pm. Has a feed and then thats pretty much his lot. The rest of the night he continuosly wakes every 40 mins, he is not hungry, hot, cold etc. He doesnt have reflux, he has colic drops in his feeds and is well winded. If have tried dream feeding but this doesnt help. I have tried c/c for 5 mins at a time but this also doesnt work. He uses a dummy which he doesnt want after he has woken so cant re-settle him with this. He is my second baby, my daughter slept through from 9 weeks and loved her naps so this is a real shock to the system. Bless her she gets no attention as im so tired and emotional all the time, i sit and do homework with her between half seven and half eight and then we go to bed. Luckily she is a very understanding 8 year old! My DH works long hours and shifts, he always tries his best to help out but nothing helps our LO to sleep longer. Any suggestions?

Hi Krissy you poor thing. I have a 10 week old too and she isn't a great sleeper. She wakes every 3/4 hours overnight, but to be honest it's usually hunger. Napping is a whole other issue- at the moment she mostly naps in a sling. Have you tried a sling?

Sorry it does sound like you've tried a lot and really I just wanted to offer support and say I'm sure it will get better. Is there anyone who can help you get some catch up sleep in the day?

Hopefully this will bump this up a bit a d someone else might be able to offer some real advice xx

Thank you chaosandcupcakes! Yes ive tried a sling, its really good but i am tiny, only 5ft and slim build and find it puts a lot of strain on my neck and shoulder, also he is too heavy for me to get on and do housework etc while in the sling and what i really want is a rest! If i sit down whislt he is in the sling he usually wakes up pronto! I slept at my mums last night while dh took over, he really is my angel, couldnt cope without him. was hard to leave lo for the first time but was so needed to get some sleep! Felt a bit more positive today, came home this morning and was not so much depressed. Again the naps just a nightmare but he is such a happy baby and always smiling! He will wake soon for his 11pm feed and not sure he will settle again afterwards as he usually doesnt, any further advice for the hard night slog is welcome! xx
