My 15mth sleeping patterns have gone to pot since his molars have come through. Hes gone from two naps to just one in the afternoon which is fine but now he will only fall asleep when he is absolutely shattered and it normally ends up being on my shoulder. He is normally very good at bedtime and will settle himself but now the last wk or so he starts to scream hyseterically once we leave the room.Hes ok in his cot and does seem to be settling himself to sleep but only if we stay in the room with him.Ive been in there for up to 45mins sometimes and even then i have to creep out. Sometimes i only manage to get half way down the stairs and make the slightest creek and then hes up again sreaming.Whats going on and whats the best way to resolve it? plz plz

Does he have a music box in his room. Once he is asleep you put it on and that just soothes them over the edge into a really deep sleep. I would go back to the controlled crying but try it with comforters, like the music box or a blanket that smells like you.

Yeah it just gives them a distraction so they are not as upset when you leave. Eventually it will be a comfort to him. My DD is 2 and she still uses her "Fimbo music light".
