Sleep

dummy problems

We have a real dummy issue. My 7 month old ds is now eating plenty in the day and doesn't need to feed in the night, so in theory he could be sleeping through. The trouble is he now wakes at least twice in the night just for his dummy. I've tried just reassuring him without it but he can't calm down, then the second I pop it in his mouth he just turns his head to the side and goes to sleep. It's so frustrating - without it we would all be happily sleeping until at least 6am. The strange thing is he always goes to sleep in the evening without it, but he wakes for it in the night and needs it for daytime naps. Any ideas - how can we get him off it?

No idea - my dd still does it - apparently it just needs to be a few nights of no sleep (on both sides!) and the habit gets broken but I have never been brave enough to go for it.
My solution was to put lots of dummies in the cot and she finds her own 90% of the time (I still have to get itfor her the other 10%).

sorry been out for the day - dd is now 13 months old (I know she should be off the dummies by now ) but she only has them in her cot for sleep.
She started to be able to put them in herself about 7-8 months if I remember correctly.

olatt we had this with ds for a while. at almost 10 months he is now fine! he either sleeps through without waking at all, or finds it himself. He has been fine for a couple of months...

thank you! we're so knackered we're just desperate for him to make it through a whole night, just once!
