Ski and snowboarding

Skiers/non-skiers & 3x1 year olds.... are there any catered chalets in nice Austria resort centres? Or any lovely Europe resorts with great town centres?

We are a mixed ability group and after 3 general surgeries this year I need to be in the town centre where I don't have to tackle icy walks.

we like the look of Seefeld and Austria in general but it all seems to be self-catering or hotels? I have trawled the reviews but haven't found the one...or any for that matter...

Can anyone recommend a good central catered chalet with 3 rooms (1 travel cot in each)? Happy to look elsewhere in Europe too and hoping to find a nice resort where there is family friendly stuff for non-skiers too.

this is quite a good site to search for catered chalets.

Zermatt and Saas Fee (both in Switzerland) are both nice car free villages with non skiing interesting things to do in them.

St Anton has loads of catered chalets, a flat, car free main street and a lovely public indoor/outdoor swimming pool. Can't recommend a specific chalet but it is stuffed full of them eg these or these

Seefeld is good as you have excellent access to Innsbruck for non skiers.

Cant recommend a chalet but the nicer resorts that I have been to around here are:

Gstaad
Morzine
Chamonix

.......why a chalet but not a hotel? Austria has some seriously good family hotels with in house creche etc.

St Anton is very nice as lapsedrunner has already suggested. Went in pre baby days but lovely town centre.

My favourite place is Val D'isere - we went several times with a very good company called Ski beat. Not sure about non skiiers though.

We have also looked at going to Norway since I have heard that is very good for kids and lots of other things to do - but not so good for the skiiers if they want hard skiing and it is quite expensive.

For non-skiers, Saas Fee (CH), Morzine (F), St Anton, Saalbach, Obergurgl (all Austria) have quite a lot to do for non-skiers. I think on the whole Austria/Switzerland are better in that respect. French resorts tend to be newer/purpose built so with less stuff to do for non-skiers

Val d'Isere is lovely, lots of development going on there this summer when we were there.

Morzine is really lvoely, and if you have a car you could nip into Geneva for the day.

(come and have tea with me if you do)

Zell am See in Austria is a lovely lake side town with a nice, old town centre. Great skiing there too, including the glacier at Kaprun.
