We (DH-reluctant beginner) and DDs (8, 9 and 11) have just returned from best family holiday ever at above hotel. We wanted a family holiday with skiing rather than just skiing as kids had never been, I had been 20 years ago and I wasn't sure if one DD in particular would take to it so we needed somewhere with other things to do if skiing was a disaster. We also wanted enough space not to sleep on sofa beds/ guaranteed interconnecting rooms and found all the big ski companies very unhelpful. Kinderhotels replied to my email within 24 hours with 3 well priced suggestions.. we went for the cheapest as it had free ski school for kids. The hotel was fab with every activity you could want: archery, climbing wall, gym, pool (only 12m but hey!), pottery, enormous play room (lego, playmobil etc etc-no nasties!) sauna, steam room. Part of the deal is childcare all day which meant a hotel kinder-club person went with us in the minibus each morning and hung around for our 2 hour lesson, picking up kids who fell over etc while our lovely driver helped my reluctant (& increasingly frustrated) DH master the fine art of snowploughing. Because the snow further up had melted I stayed in the beginners class as we progressed up the nursery slops on the drag lift. We were then brought back to the hotel where the kids had a 3 course lunch. Afternoons were spent either sightseeing (Konigsee, Berchtesgaden, Ober Salzburg, etc) or hanging out/ making pottery/ swimming etc. The food was stupenduous (if you like German food in large proportions), kids menu healthy (not a chicken nugget in sight) and whle very German, there was no problem when the leberkase proved too much and they were brought schitzel at no extra charge. the kids had endless drinks (water, juice & some fizzy stuff) and were served cake at 3 in case their 3 course lunch and 3 course dinner weren't enough. Absolutely a great place to spend a family holiday with skiing on top. The only proviso was that it was very quiet so not sure how well we would have fared with competing demands of native German speaking kids. Just thought you might like to know!

Thanks for sharing your experience at that Kinderhotel.
We too had an excellent experience at the Kinderhotel Alpenrose in Lermoos although we went in the summer. Great for mountain biking and hiking but also great indoor facilities (Spa, pool etc) with a great childcare programme!
