The survey is open to anyone with a child aged 18 months to 10 years and has been commissioned by Otovent, a company that make a treatment for glue ear but you don't have to have any experience of that condition in order to do the survey.

There's been another thread on this but we think the title was putting folks off, and potentially skewing results, so hope lots more folks will now take the survey - it should only take you a few minutes and although we said the vouchers were for Space NK, White company or Boden, as we haven't bought them yet they could be for anywhere the winner wants...

have done survey but don't think it is very well worded. There needs to be a box where you can write about your child that has had glue ear, what treatment if any and what outcome.

My DS had glue ear. We did not go for grommets as I didn't want the general anesthetic and thought there would be a chance of it clearing up naturally.

DS's glue ear did clear up and he passed a hearing test before starting school. However he has had minor speech problems..slow to pronounce sounds like "s", "sh". At 6 he still hears words beginning "thr" as "fr" and as a result his spelling is not that good. As he does not have major speech problems it seems impossible to get any state help for him in terms of speech therapy.

I would have thought it would be more useful for this company to ask the kind of questions to get this information.

happywomble -- as I understand it, the company is marketing an "alternative" remedy for glue ear. They already know all the research figures about treatments and outcomes. What they want to know, and what this survey seems designed to elicit, is what the average parent would think and do and set as priorities if their child had a perceived hearing problem or glue ear. That will help them structure their marketing appropriately.
