A couple of months ago. You pay a CAT fee £5 - got to be cheaper than ebay surely

Two or three months.

You have to pay the CAT fee - a fiver, I think. It was intended to get rid of some of the people who were abusing the facility.

You don't have to pay as such. You do need to be able to receive CAT messages, so if you hadn't already paid for that then you will need to pay.

It was months and months ago, as part of the overhaul -- generally felt that buying and selling was taking over, the bumping of buying and selling threads was getting silly (hence moving to CAT instead) and too many professional sellers were starting to use Mumsnet as a free alternative to eBay.

There was a lot of fighting discussion about it on the talk boards at the time, both when MN Towers were canvassing ideas and after the changes were implemented.

It was more than three months ago -- DD is three months tomorrow (urk!) and I was on maternity leave for six weeks before she was born, and I'm pretty sure the change happened while I was still at work.

the huns now sometimes post on ffp, they have a couple of scratty items no one wants in one album and then loads of others for sale on their 'trail'

i was a bit miffed aswell, i have used mn for ages but cant use buy and sell now, i thought the whole point was so regulars could use it but its worked the other way for me. £5 is a lot if you only want to buy or sell one thing!

I dont use the CAT thing so to pay a fiver to sell a pair of shoes I only want a tenner for is more expensive than ebay
