Please can you stop those large adverts that are videos across the whole screen. I've an old computer and it slows it right down.

It's also just automatically scrolled down to show me the whole advert while I was in the middle of reading. Very irritating!

Theyre taking up about 3 quarters of the page with a tiny bit in the middle with the threads on it. Do they really have to be so big? I'm guessing that theyre getting very little revenue from their adverts so by making them bigger is more difficult for us to ignore them? Hmm

So sorry to hear this is a problem, we'll pass this on to tech to see if there's a way to minimise this for you. Flowers

Yes, I have just had this with an ad for Zalando. It autoplayed, moved mumsnet to the bottom of the screen whilst I was reading, and there was no stop or pause button. The only thing i could do to stop it was to leave mumsnet entirely and log back in. Very very annoying.

We definitely do not allow auto play, we will look into this urgently

I've noticed an increasing number that auto play as well as strobing for the last week. I've ad blockers to stop this due to difficulties it causes me but they are getting through. I'm aware MN doesn't allow these but they're obviously getting through the filters the ad dept use as well as those I've installed. I've noticed it on other previously safe sites as well.

I have resolved this to an extent by reducing the size of my web browser window. This reduces then results in the content of the site being shown, along with a standard sized banner ad at the top of the page and standard sized ads in the right side bar. This does not stop auto-play ads but does seem to reduce it occurring.

It seems that once the browser window is a certain size, you get side borders filled with adverts and full page ads popping up. Whilst these may get some clicks I can imagine most people find them too intrusive - perhaps Google/DoubleClick will eventually realise that and stop offer publishers the option of not having them.

Always difficult though as Mumsnet needs to pay the bills and advertising is revenue... but only if we click on the ads as most I expect are PPC.
