FFS if you are going to edit a thread title don't leave the "horror" in it

you say you have done it , yet you leave the horror there.
WTF its not hard some things are just things no parent wants to think about.
(yep I have reported but its late and mn hq no doubt are drinking wine and have the newbie on duty)

Don't know what the title was before but they don't tend to edit stuff like that. Even the sodding loofas are allowed to roam around the boards with their hairy legs terrorising people.

You can always hide a thread if it upsets you that much?

I think SamCro has a point. It's a bit late to hide the thread once you've already been upset by the (apparently edited) title.

i rarely get upset about thread titles.
i have been on here since 2006 so know that if I am way behind watching some tv show, I hide the thread or topic till I catch up example)but I sure as hell cant erase the awful thread title of a"horror" once I have seen it.
yes you hide thread, but its too late.....you've seen and read it.
every now and again there are threads that are so horrible. that no parent can not be affected.

I wouldn't have clicked on the thread to read it but have already been horrified by the title, so too late.

You are right OP as there are some things you can't 'unread' so saying it has been edited isn't enough, and hiding the thread isn't sufficient when you have been involuntarily supplied with the full and horrific description of the atrocity carried out in the 'edited' thread title.

I applaud you for highlighting this.

That poor, poor child...

I think I saw the same thing and totally agree. Really grim especially when it's in Active Conversations and surrounded by (far preferable to me) trivial threads about books and ILS.

perhaps because I did not see the original title I do not understand the full scope of the impact.

The current one does not upset me. I am a parent. Different things upset different people at different times and due to different circumstances. Personally think that there have been far worse thread titles that have not been edited

Also having read the first page HQ commented on the thread that the title was edited because it accused people of doing it in a very generalised manner which was out of line. It would appear that was what was edited out of the title, the potential false accusation of guilt of a nationality rather than anything else.

I am going to step away from the thread because what I would like to say would not take into account that different people have different levels of sensitivity. And 'could' be deemed as being insensitive. Potentially factually accurate and harshly blunt. But everyone has a right to avoid the news suit it be the best for them.

Rarely, hq gave up on the word spider years again, it is banded about like cellulite on a beach with no one blinking or considering it out of place.

All I needed to know (and was already aware of from reading my newspaper today) was that a poor little toddler had been killed. The edited thread title was crass.

We all know that horrific events happen to people each day and it doesn't take too much working out to conclude that this poor child's passing was not a peaceful one.

Being given such a graphic description on an edited thread title reminds me of the sensationalist headlines churned out by the likes of the Daily Fail.

Hi Samcro,

We've just replied to your report about this - huge apologies for the delay but it's been a very busy weekend on the Talk boards.

Just letting you know that we've edited the title again now. We haven't received any other reports about it and as it had been widely reported in the national press, we initially felt it was okay to stand, distressing though it clearly was.

However we can see from the posts on this thread that many of you feel the same way, so we've edited it again now.
