Not sure if it should go next to Sport or Exercise but there seems to be some interest based on This thread. Please if anyone reading would support it, post here to let MNHQ know how much interest there is. Names for it also welcome... the 'Weights Room' maybe?

Yes...i definitely want 'The weights room' thread!

It would make me very happy!

Please MNHQFlowers

suzannecallmestan · 07/04/2015 15:41

I'm interested!
I believe that there are many women who recognize that strength training has much to offer them but don't know where to start, so a weightlifting topic may be just the thing for them.

I like 'the weights room' and dont have any other suggestions
(but will add if anything else occurs to me)

GiveOverLuv · 07/04/2015 16:39

Yes please! Been trying the new rules of lifting in fits and starts since Feb. Would love a friendly, female place to discuss!

Teladi · 07/04/2015 16:42

I'm interested but wouldn't a thread in Sport & Exercise be more appropriate - that's what the runners have?

shewept · 07/04/2015 16:51

teladi a thread is good. However we feel a topic would be better are there are so many questions and different points of view etc. Single threads can tend to go off topic (naturally) or get a bit confusing, when one question inevitably runs into another. Also there are no women friendly discussion boards out there for women who lift heavy. They focus on light weights and lots of reps, or (more often) aimed at men. We are looking for a place that's female friendly (not exclusively female though) that we can discuss and ask questions on all the different aspects, techniques, training, nutrition, supplements etc.

TheCowThatLaughs · 07/04/2015 16:56

I would like this too. I know nothing but would like to find a bit out.

RJnomore · 07/04/2015 16:59

I'd be in too.

Daisybutton · 07/04/2015 17:43

Yes please. Just thinking about beginning to lift so this would be perfect.

loveableshoulder · 07/04/2015 17:58

I'm interested :) would have lots of different questions to ask about weights.

Bexicles · 07/04/2015 18:11

Yes pls!

gemini1987 · 07/04/2015 21:10

Would be very interested in this.

BIWI · 07/04/2015 22:10

Yes please!

Grantaire · 07/04/2015 22:20

I lift and have done for a couple of years now. I'm undecided tbh. A thread in sport and exercise would be a great idea.

There are way too many topics on MN already. I think we need a trade instead. Get rid of AIBU and replace it with a weights room.

I think MN only needs a few topics anyway.

Whimsy
Chatter
BIWI and her Low Carbers
Frothing
Nonsense
Friday Night
Under The Bridge
Over The Hill

That covers it I think.

Grantaire · 07/04/2015 22:21

Oh and somewhere to talk about children.

The Playpen

BlameItOnTheBogey · 08/04/2015 00:08

I'm in. I want somewhere I can geek out over lifting with like minded people so that my husband doesn't get so bored with me going on about it that he divorces me….

CindyEcstacy · 08/04/2015 00:57

Yes please

AggressiveBunting · 08/04/2015 03:01

Would like one too. There are no weight lifting forums for women so MN would be unique. I'll consider it a success when we start getting trolledGrin

Hmm.
Thanks for the suggestion- we will have a think but make NO promises as pretty sure folk want fewer topics, not more.
Is there a weightlifting thread running?

BIWI · 08/04/2015 12:51

I'm sure we could cull plenty of them to make room for one about weightlifting, Olivia Wink

Gangie · 08/04/2015 13:10

Yes please Grin

TheCowThatLaughs · 08/04/2015 13:21

Grantaire has nailed it, I think Grin

yes, yes, but is there a thread already?
Get one going and then we will see, yes Grin

sleepwhenidie · 08/04/2015 14:09

There are various threads on the subject within exercise, it regularly crops up - but they usually concern advice on getting started. There is always a decent number of responses and advice from more experienced lifters Smile

OP posts:
Littlepumpkinpie · 08/04/2015 18:00

I would drop in offering advice if I know the answer but what works for one might not be the correct one for you. From all my friends in real life not one of us are on the same plan or sups we are individual programs from our coaches all from the same place and all getting our goals reached.

shewept · 08/04/2015 22:07

little that's true, buts its true of any exercise. Running etc. You can still offer advice and discuss experiences of each aspect.

Olivia - no we want more!!!!!!! Grin
