The thanks emoticon...

It's a small thing MN, but the flowers, originally for thanking MNwoollyhuggers iirc, are increasingly being used as a form of support when posters are going through a difficult time.

It doesn't sit well with me typing [ thanks ] when using them to offer sympathy for a shitty STBXH, an illness, or worse, a bereavement, especially in those embarrasing typo moments when it doesn't work and there is a thanks there for all to see!

Could the emoticon be changed to a simple [ flowers ] rather than thanks!

Thanks Thanks

Hi there,

Thanks for flagging this. We see what you're saying, but it would probably cause a lot of confusion to change it now.

Having said that, if there's a big demand for change we'll obviously reconsider.

Thanks Amy, but all Tech would need to do is add an "or [ flowers ]" to the smileys list.

It was originally listed as both [ thanks ] and [ flowers ].
MNHQ decided to delete the flowers.

I suspect they've got a lot more on their hands at the moment.

I'm sure they have but I started the thread before it all kicked off on Friday Hmm. Maybe we should all stop posting about anything as MN have other things to think about? or even better, why don't you drop into every thread in active convos and impart the same wisdom. FFS
