Is there a reason why this is happening? It's the worst ive ever seen it

I was just going to post about this. It's been bad for ages, but tonight it's been terrible. Been down about 15 or 16 times so far

Are the hamsters tired?

I can almost clock it starting within a half hour. Usually from half 4 it starts to be a massive pain.

If the servers are struggling with an increase then there has to be a solution in there somewhere.

Yep - lots of backup and server optimization going on, I'd guess. Buy some new ones HQ! (And give Tech a few new hamsters as well.)

Just as I went to post a reply to this thread - it crashed!!

It is doing my bloody head in. It really needs to stop. And it never really is down, is it - F5 and you're usually back in after an irritating few moments. Although not always.

Doing my head in too.

Bet MNHQ can't reply either as it keeps going offline.

ClayDavis · 23/09/2013 22:44

I've not noticed the going offline tonight any more than in the last few days but it keeps crashing when I try to post.

They're picking on you Clay.

It's getting on my wick.

When it's not down, I can't post. I just get a please wait message in the post message box.

Report
ClayDavis · 23/09/2013 22:58

I know. Sad

I press post message and the button goes from dark purple to light purple but then nothing else happens. If I copy the text in the text box then refresh the page and paste it back in it's OK and will post. That's better than losing the post completely when I press post and get the offline message I suppose.

LOL at hamsters - not sure what the problem is but we'll find out.

I predict new horrible share buttons that will end up with us broadcasting ourselves posting in our dressing gowns and cutting our toenails

How did you know?
Report

Don't you know how much a new server costs ?

Could buy a lot of gin with that money!

PseudoBadger · 24/09/2013 13:56

Nearly every time I click on a new thread (safari) the site tells me it's offline....

Report
gamerchick · 24/09/2013 16:36

Just had my first one of the day. Bang on the button.

Report
FruOla · 24/09/2013 16:54

It's been doing this for the last few weeks Hmm

I don't know why you're LOL'ing at hamsters, Olivia, we've been asking poor Tech to feed them for years a while now.

Actually, I suspect it's poor Tech who's running around a large wheel Sad

SinisterSal · 24/09/2013 18:27

Ah here MNHQ!

edam · 24/09/2013 18:31

YY been happening here for a week or two - every so often when I click on a thread I get the 'MN is offline' message & logo.

olibeansmummy · 24/09/2013 20:24

I agree it's been rubbish lately, I've never known a site go offline so much!

Report
SauvignonBlanche · 24/09/2013 20:25

It's a bit slow to load pages and I've had the offline message half a dozen times but I can post tonight.

Report
RowanMumsnet · 25/09/2013 11:07

Sorry about this, everyone. Tech have identified what they think is the problem and they're working on a fix. We'll try to have it back to normal ASAP
