On some threads I get a huuuuuuge gap between the thread title and the first post. There is also a one line advert for wowcher just above the first post. Is it just an annoying ad not working or my problem?

Thank you thanks and gin grin

I'm still getting it sad

oh i think its gone! Hurrah smile

The Wowcher ad is wrong anyway.

"sign-up" is not the correct wording.

In the imperative it should be "Sign up to get lots of emails with nothing that you really want".

I would like the wowcher thing to go away please,

I already get eleventy billion emails per day from groupon trying to give me discounts on very expensive restaurants and luxury cars. hmm I have no need of wowcher.

It's not fixed, sorry Kate, the blooming ad is still there interrupting every chat thread sad

The gap has gorn though thankfully

I find it intrusive.

mrsjay Mon 04-Feb-13 11:39:17

and anyway I have heard you need to wait at least a decade to be able to use the discount vouchers grin Justine mumsnet said on another thread if they get complaints they will remove it ,

RooneyMara Mon 04-Feb-13 11:40:02

I mean it just looks like MN is ^endorsing or affiliated to wowcher or something...iyswim? Round the edges is fine, can ignore those.

mrsjay Mon 04-Feb-13 11:41:35

I guess it is an advert MN might get some money wowcher gets more customers , im a bit meh about it but the gaps fixed i can ignore the bar, sometimes the flashy adverts at the sides distract me confused

LadyBeagleEyes Mon 04-Feb-13 11:45:08

My gap still isn't fixed.

mrsjay Mon 04-Feb-13 11:47:57

mine is try logging out lady

MerylStrop Mon 04-Feb-13 11:54:32

I really object to having adverts IN the thread, like this wowcher one.

Mumsnet is a total collage of adverts already, if you need to advertise them, please do it where you already have adverts

You don't want to end up looking like one of those local mags that nobody reads because they are all ads and no content.

kim147 Mon 04-Feb-13 11:56:01

Still not fixed.

I'm on Firefox.

<walks off muttering something about CSS, padding, cache and hard refresh to herself>

BillericayDickie Mon 04-Feb-13 11:56:45

seems to have gone now,

EuroShagmore Mon 04-Feb-13 12:00:53

It's not fixed. It is still happening in Chat. (Internet Explorer)

RooneyMara Mon 04-Feb-13 12:10:48

I was on a site last night that had an ad in every single post. It were crap.

its all about balance, MNHQ...<taps nose>

LadyBeagleEyes Mon 04-Feb-13 12:12:36

Well the big gap seems to have gone but I've still got the wowser thing.
I don't like it.

mrsjay Mon 04-Feb-13 12:14:28

aye eeverybody has the wowcher ad lady if we say wowcher often enough does something happen to us like in the adverts >>looks out for falling discount cake

mrsjay Mon 04-Feb-13 12:14:42

everybody*

Nope, still have the huge gap on all chat threads with chrome.

HelenMumsnet (MNHQ) Mon 04-Feb-13 12:44:37

Hello. There are a few threads on this so pls forgive me if I just C&P Justine's post from one of the other threads...

"Hello, hello
Yes it's additional wee thing we're testing on chat forums and yes it's an attempt to make an buck without causing too much irritation. It had a problem when launched in that it pushed everything down the page but that's fixed now. Do we think we can give it a go for a wee while and see if you can live with it. Obviously if it drives everyone bananas then we'll nix..."

Oh, and the ad should be a nice unobstrusive blue, rather then in-yer-face green. We're working on sorting that ASAP>

kim147 Mon 04-Feb-13 12:59:49

It's been fixed - and it's got past my Adblock grin

Still it's not that obtrusive.

MonaLotte Mon 04-Feb-13 13:24:02

It's distracting, there are loads of ads now. I really dislike it tbh.

Lifeisontheup Mon 04-Feb-13 13:33:56

Just downloaded adblocker and every site I go on is much much quicker!

FloatyBeatie Mon 04-Feb-13 13:34:28

Why does it get past adblock (on Firefox) just out of interest? Is it not technically classed as an ad? Nothing else is getting past my adblock on MN.
