DD1 in Year 11 so has the day of, but I've heard through her that there are over 800 applicants this year. DS1 tried for Reading but didn't get in so is now at a fabulous independent school, he's just started Year 8.

So, any anxious MNs out there? :) Good luck to all applying, feel free to ask me any questions about the school!

Hi, just read your msg. My DS gave the exam yesterday for Reading, said he did well in Maths, VR+NVR but not so great in English. For this reason, am not sure he will be able to make it...stressful times ahead. Having said that, Reading is not the be all end all for us and we are exploring independent school options. May I ask which independent school is your son going to as you say it's fabulous? Always nice to hear a parent's views on a school their child is going to instead of always seeing glossy brochures of the school or hearing how fantastic it truly is from the open days. Thanks in advance.

I think "not so great" in English is the general feeling after the Reading test. It might still happen :)
