Lunch box for Y7?

DD is adamant that she's still going to take her own lunch into school. What should it go in? I know she won't be taking her primary school lunch box, but is a tupperware box acceptable? She only has a sandwich and something else so it doesn't need to be big. Thanks.

In secondary school my DS just took his things in a plastic bag because space is at such a premium in his school bag.

Both of mine took their lunches in 'Lock 'n' Lock' boxes available in various sizes from Lakeland and other shops. Lasted for years. I wouldn't want a squashed butty in a bag!

My daughter says some of her friends carry theirs around in plastic bags, but prefers a Tupperware container to save her lunch getting knocked around and squashed.

DD has a plain coloured, velcro sealed, sort-of insulated soft bag, which we got, I think, in WHSmiths but are also available in supermarkets.
She does have to be careful it doesn't get squashed, but seems to manage that with no problems.
I like it being insulated and she puts a freezer thing in as well to help ham sandwiches not go off between 8am and 1:30pm in the summer.

My ds has chosen a Sistema lunchbox with different sections inside and space for a water bottle. Can't actually fit a whole apple in the bottom though... We'll see how long it lasts.

They hold a sandwich of 2 rounds of bread. Anything else gets put in loose, apple/crisps etc. I think I got them from Amazon.

Mine would only take small Tupperware, preferring to have some stuff separate than actually take a big enough box. Silly girls.

Something to protect the sandwich from being squashed and then everything in a bag sounds good. DH says they all eat their lunch at first break so it won't have to last long.

We use the plastic tubs that chinese takeaway comes in. Better than putting them straight into recycling.

DS uses Chinese-take away boxes, too! Best ever.
Tupperwear is fine, bit expensive. I have some cheap equivalents from Lidl, too.
DD insisted on a sistema-style monstrosity.

My DD started Y7 with a tupperwre type box with compartments in it. I got it from Asda. However, by half term she had swapped to school dinners as that is what all her friends were doing. Plus apparently they are really nice (as opposed to the horrible ones at Junior school!)

Agree with the others - tupperware type box, as small as possible so it fits into the school bag. DD going into Y10 still has the same one (her friends all take packed lunches), DS persuaded me to let him have school dinners after a couple of terms as his mates all have them. And a fob takes up a lot less space in the bag!
