Hi

My son just finished year 7 and wants to change schools. He was bullied at his current school. Any tips how we can get the school we want and also does anyone know anything about the Wren Academy? Many thanks.

I moved DS from y7 to y8.
There are national guidelines but they're kind of irrelevant, many LEAs have their own procedures you need to try first.
You need to ring the LEA & the school to find out the procedure they prefer.
Sorry don't know Wren Academy, since academies set own admission criteria you definitely have to ring them direct.

Thank you lljkk. Checked the school's website and contacted the LEA already. If you hear anything about the Wren Academy please let me know.

Hi dukat

My DS has just finished Y7 at Wren, we couldn't be more pleased and he has a great group of friends, (fingers X) no problems at all. I'm sure other parents will give a more balanced opinion but that's our experience - it is oversubscribed though so good luck :)

Hi hotsummer, thank you very much for your comments. They are most helpful. I will try to get him in and hopefully it will work out.

Hi dukat also only heard good things about The Wren (if you are happy going to a church school).

I would move him, I have moved both of my DC from a very popular hard to get into secondary and have not regretted it.

You know your child and its hard to come back once you have been bullied, hopefully it will give him a second chance.

Good luck, I have you get a place.

Hi Itscoldouthere, thank you for your comments and your wishes. I really do hope that he gets a place there. I have submitted the relevant forms and am now waiting. Hopefully it will not be a very long wait!

This is second hand but I half-know a woman with a son at Wren and she is very happy. Normal, middle-of-the-road child.

My friends daughter goes to this school , her dad loves it , very disciplined environment, child not so keen on this but getting reasonable grades. She made some good friends and settled in well after being out of school for a while. They get good results from what I can gather.
