Latymer Edmonton - anyone want to commiserate/compare notes/thank fuckery it's over?

I am doing all three. DS came out white as a sheet, saying maths was much harder than he expected. On the upside, English comprehension seemed to be given less weight - and English essay was not (thank god) 'continue the story'.

Have spoken to two other parents, both of whom's kids found the maths challenging.

We decided not to do that one as we are at the edge of catchment and travel would have been horrid. I was completely relieved when HB was over, though. So badly organised. DD hated it and was pleased not to make the first cut. Later admitted that she was terrified that we'd make her go because it's free. Of her top set cohort, the maths geeks got through but the really strong writers didn't. Best of luck with the outcome. It was a very wierd year.

How funny, "continue the story" is DS favourite thing! When he sees that in an exam his face lights up and he knows he's onto full marks...courses for horses.

I'm diverting here. Didn't sit Latymer Edmonton sorry. Grin

Ah, thanks anyway hardboiled. Horses for courses indeedy.

And horsemadmom, how interesting re maths geeks at HB. As far as I can work out, Latymer dropped verbal reasoning in favour of a beefed-up English exam a few years ago. I must admit I feel that boys, who in my experience find handwriting/creative writing much harder than girls at 11ish, were disadvantaged by this. I thought it was sour grapes on my part Wink but perhaps there is something to it and the schools are rebalancing?

I accept I am probably talking out of my arse generally though.

No idea what was going through their heads with any of it. Roll on indies in January!
