Had thought our appeal wasn't going to be heard til early June, but got the letter giving our date for 3 weeks time. We have 2 dates, one is a Group presentation, and the other 2 days later is for our individual hearing.
Was feeling quietly confident til the letter came today
Now realize I have no idea what to expect! Made worse is that the venue is at a park where we love to go with the girls, I don't want to think of the appeal every time I go to that park Sad

If it helps, what will happen is something like this, starting with the first date:

  • Someone will welcome you
  • You and the other parents will be shown into the room where the hearing will take place. The LA's representative will enter the room at the same time
  • The chair will welcome everyone and introduce the panel, the clerk and the LA's representative
  • The LA's representative will present the case to refuse admission
  • The parents will ask any questions they want of the LA's representative
  • The panel will also question the LA's representative

For the second date you will be the only parent present for your hearing. Following the preliminaries:

  • You present your case
  • The LA's representative and the panel will ask you some questions
  • The LA's representative sums up the case to refuse admission
  • You sum up your case

That ends the hearing. You and the LA's representative will leave the room together and you will hear the decision a few days later.

Note that if you have any evidence that a mistake was made or that the admission arrangements do not comply with the Admissions Code you must bring it up at the first hearing.
