Hi, I wondered if anyone else from Kenilworth (or Warwick/Leam) had a son starting King Edward's in September?

My son is - we're in Stratford though but he does not know anybody else starting...

I can't believe my son is even old enough for secondary school, where has the time gone? How does your lad feel about going?

He is ok about it in general, but occasionally mentions that he wishes he had a friend going too! He had a visit from one of the members of staff from KES last week and that increased his enthusiasm.

I was most pi$$ed off to discover we have to go to Solihull for the uniform though but there you go!

But we see the KES boys wandering around town and they always look happy which I hope is a good sign! I like the fact it is quite a small school so I guess they will make friends quite quickly and I'm hoping once they've done their "taster day" it will seem less daunting?

My son said the other day that his class was asked to write the names of two friends they would like to be in tutor groups with at Kenilworth School. He said a few were left out (because they're going to KES or elsewhere). I pointed out that this was a good reason to be left out. He wasn't convinced. We will encourage him to keep in touch with his current friends, but like you say, they will soon make new ones.
We haven't heard anything from KES yet, nor have they been to my son's school. Three boys got in.
I presumed we'd get the uniform in Stratford, so you know more than I do!

Apparently we should all get a letter soon and then there will be a parents' information evening for us to attend. That is lovely for him that there are three of them going. 5 got in to the grammars from my son's school but the other 4 are going to different grammars unfortunately.

I don't think he classes the other lads as friends but at least they will be familiar faces when they start. Where does your son go at the moment? Do you have other children? We have another son who is 7 next month. He will be moving up in September that his brother attends now. Sadly they won't have a year together.
