examining boards...how to ask for advice...

Hi, could anyone who's been there before, please tell me..... I would like to know the examining bodies for my DD's forthcoming GCSEs, so that I can help her by getting past papers/looking on their websites, etc. Do you think I should write an individual note to each subject teacher asking them, just ask my DD to ask them....etc.? What's the norm?! Many thanks.

Some schools include this information on their website or on their options material.

No, Pixie, we are looking ahead...! Just coming to end of year 9! It was hinted at parents evening that they weren't quite sure about which examining boards they were going to go with for various subjects but should know by end of this academic year, so no, DD has no way of knowing, just trying to get one step ahead! Useful to know they are on timetables though - have you been through it all before with DCs? Thanks.

Thanks, cool, DD is due to get her options back at start of next term, so will get her to check it then. If not, I'm sure she will speak to her teachers direct; luckily they are all very approachable! Smile

Op if your daughter hasnt started studying the material for the exams yet it's too early to start looking at exam papers - they will probably scare her Grin

What could be useful is to check with her school what revision materials they will be using, and if necessary supplement it with revision guides that she can refer to as she learns the material.

Thanks again coolascucumber....have just found relevant information on school website (they have literally just added it in last few days) and it clearly states examining boards for each subject. MANY THANKS.

Your DD should know, although perhaps not. Does the school publish a curriculum booklet for KS4 - this is the type of info that should be included.

You should be able to get the info from the Director of Studies, rather than writing to all teachers.
