I got the impression after touring the school and meeting wiht the head that pastoral care is definitely one of the strengths of the school. My DS has mild dyslexia and I believe the head spoke about a dyslexia specialist that was linked to the school, although I believe at an additional fee. That said the fees are the lowest I've found for an independent secondary school.

The things about the school that put me off were the fact that Year 7,8 and 9 children were all taught together due to small number of students and the same for Years 10 and 11. Also we live in Streatham the journey wouldn't be easy for DS once he was a little older and wanted to travel to and from school alone.

Based on what I was told by the student that showed us around, I would say that the school is perfect for children who would thrive in a small school and/or they had experienced problems such as bullying in other schools and their confidence had been knocked as a result.

Hope this helps.

If you are looking for a small school with good pastoral care I would suggest Bishop Challenger in Bromley. It has proper year groups and a very friendly style. Definitely worth a look.

Good staff but school has suffered since AS Northern took over as proprietors.

Ali Khan's company seem more interested in profits than quality of education.

Of late, too many disruptive children, excluded from other schools, have been allowed admission in order to boost numbers, and this has had a negative effect on the atmosphere in the school as a whole.

I also suggest you look at comments regarding Mr Khan's impact on another school he took over recently :

What age are you you looking for. Sr David's school in West Wickham is meant to be really good and very oversubscribed. That's a primary school.

Also bishop challoner in shortlands is a good school with small class sizes. They go from 2-18 years

I didn't personally like Wickham court when I visited although my main focus was on the nursery. Lovely building but found it very dark inside

I don't personally know the school, but I have been at a school that was taken over by Ali Khan, proprietor of Alpha Schools. The school went downhill very fast and lost its best teachers.
